If the Internet were a musical…

Just found this CollegeHumor parody of the Internet set to a West Side Story medley. Twitter, Pandora, eHarmony and Evite are just a few of the sites mentioned.

Web Site Story

I’m not going to lie…Tony can come back to Myspace and Twitter all over my Facebook. (Thanks Threadless.)

Twitter Tools I love

First, I have to thank Jon Bishop for sharing his list of Twitter Tools we should be using. Without that post, I would have never stumbled upon TweetGrid or Tweetworks.

Twittergrid is similar to Twitter Feed in the way that you can view twitter feeds. It’s different because unlike Twitter Search, the feed automatically updates so you don’t have to hit refresh. The best part is that you can arrange multiple searches into a grid-like pattern to help track different conversations. Jon used this feature during Red Sox games to get a play-by-play as well as learn what others were saying about the game.

Tweetworks is fairly new. I’ve only discovered it today, but I can’t believe it’s taken this long. With threaded comments and organized conversation, how could I NOT love Tweetworks? The community is still on the small side, but I’m noticing many 20SBers over there. Definitely check it out.

Deadline helps you stay on track!

I am trying desperately to keep myself organized. I can write as many notes as I want, but that doesn’t mean I remember to look at them! This is why I love websites like Deadline.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Deadline reminds you of those appointments you set up weeks ago, to pick up milk or whatever else it is that you need to know. You can set up email reminders or go mobile.

All you have to do is sign up, type in your reminders, set a scheduled time and Deadline will send you an email letting you know that it’s time to change the litter in the litter box – man I’d hope that the smell alone would remind you of that!!

Behold the power of Twitter

Lately I’ve stepped up my game on Twitter. I’m promoting more, tweeting more and even breaking the occasional news story. Twitter can be a really effective networking and self-promotion/syndication tool if you let it. It can also be a great amplifier for what’s going on in various cities. For example, I knew about the recent earthquake in California because of Twitter, not the news.

I like that more and more companies are beginning to pay attention what people on the Internet are saying about them and not just in blogs or niche websites. They’re actually paying attention to Twitter thanks to Twitter’s search capabilities. It tracks tweets by topic, for example, Gmail, 20SB or Snapfish. This brings me to the point of this post.

Earlier today I tweeted about an order I placed with Snapfish in July and haven’t received yet. A couple hours later I received an email from the Director of Systems and Support Operations. He mentioned that he saw my tweet and offered to look up the status of my order for me. I thought this was great! Not only was he willing to help, but he found me by a complaint I shared on Twitter!

As a result, he had my order re-shipped (using 2 day shipping!) and added some credits to my account. This is an example of great customer service. He was very helpful and I’m very impressed. This was my first experience with Snapfish and I was pretty disappointed until this afternoon. I’m more than willing to give Snapfish another chance.

I’m excited that Twitter is being used in this way. I think a lot of companys would benefit from seeing what is being tweeted about them.

Give a gadget, win an iPhone

A couple weeks ago I wrote a post about Second Rotation. The lovely folks at SR emailed me to let me know that for every electronic sold or recycled through Second Rotation throughout the month of May, they will enter that person in a drawing to win a free iPhone.

If that’s not motivation to get rid of that extra computer you have laying around, I don’t know what is! Even if you don’t win the iPhone, you can still make money and clean out your closets.

Don’t forget, they don’t just accept computers. They also take game consoles, MP3 players, cell phones, digital cameras and GPS devices.

What was I supposed to do?

I’m one of those people who have Post-its scattered all over the computer monitor and desk. I keep a pack of Post-its in my purse, too. Without them, I feel I wouldn’t remember much. They remind me to send out Evites for a Cupcake Crawl or that I turned off my monitor and it didn’t just shutdown over night. I have a pretty bad memory for being 23 years old.

I love Post-its! They’re so colorful! But I feel bad using so many and to be honest, they can be pretty expensive sometimes (unless you take them from work :P ) Last night while talking to The Tattooed Mama she told me she had something to share with me that I might like. She sent over the link for HassleMe.

HassleMe is a fantastic little tool. You set up the reminder and the site will send an email to you reminding you do feed the dogs or go to the gym. If you have your email synced to your phone it’s even better! I found myself trying to think of all sorts of things to do last night just so I could test out the service. The best part? It’s free. And it really does help! I’m saving the Earth by not wasting so many Post-its and my cats are eating because HassleMe didn’t let me forget :)

Thanks muchly to The Tattooed Mama for being so awesome and sharing this with me so I could share it with all of you. Now go….get hassled!
